Why some women over 50 are staying single

A rising number of women over 50 shared that they’re happier staying single than getting married. They claim there is a new way that romance fits in their lives.

Author Judsen Culbreth stated in a article for Match.com that "in the past (and not too long ago at that), a woman over age 50 who was single inspired sympathy and concern from her married peers: Will she ever be able to find someone and settle down? True, even today, many unattached women in this demographic dream of hearing wedding bells. Still, a surprising number have the exact opposite attitude and think, Why the heck would I want to get married now? "

LONG-TERM CARE INSURANCE: to buy or not to buy

LONG-TERM CARE INSURANCE: to buy or not to buy

Having Long-term care insurance (LTCi) opens doors and options to seniors who as they age begin to need more assistance withactivities of daily living. LTCi plans provide many benefits two of which are preserving a person’s lifestyle and opening up options for how long-term health care needs will be met as they arise. Many LTCi policies cover far more than Nursing home care.

LTCi policies can:

•Limit if not eliminate family and friends of many caregiving tasks. Giving financial means to pay for professional care.

•Gives you the option to age-in-place. They can allow you to choose where you receive care. If you resorted to utilizing state programs such as Medicaid nursing home is about the only option. LTCi often cover moving into an assisted living facility.

•Help preserve assets and savings.

Educate yourself so that you can make an informed decision. Really look at the policy to ensure it covers everything you want or you do not buy it.

impact of long-term care cost

impact of long-term care cost

72% of Americans become impoverished after just 12 months of nursing home care found a Harvard University study in the Compensation & Benefits Review. Long term care nor Assisted Living care are not typically covered by medical insurance or Medicare. Medicare cover skilled and rehabilitative care for brief period of time while a person is working to regain their strength after a illness or incident that resulted in a three-day hospital stay. That coverage does not include custodial care or the assistance someone needs for daily living should the insurance determine rehab has plateau in therapy.

There is the option for applying for income based assistance through state programs such as Medicaid. Programs like these traditionally cover nursing home cost once a loved one is bereft of their assets.

3 WAYS TO HELP YOUR ELDERLY RELATIVE SPRING FORWARD & OUST THE CLUTTER

1. Clear out all of the clutter first: Before you start cleaning the house you should start by separating all the items your elderly relative wants to keep, and place them in a different pile than the things you are discarding. Often Seniors feel they need to keep many items that they will in all likelihood they do not need. A good rule of thumb is if they do not have a example of the last time they had a use for that item in the past 3 years then it is a good item to donate to their local charity of choice.

2. Within Reach: While cleaning, organize the refrigerator and pantry. Be sure to discard all expired food. This is a great time to discuss with the Senior relocating items for ease of reach. It is important to do this because when seniors are living independently someone cannot always be there to help them out; instead, keep things in easy reach for them to access with no hesitation.

3. Check safety devices: A Senior’s home should not only be clean, but it has to be safe as well. Final step before finishing up this spring clean should be to check the working status of the fire extinguishers, smoke detectors and alarm systems.

While you are spring cleaning, this is a great time to consider installing an emergency response system. Utilizing a local company to provide this service has many benefits over large chains. Call us today and we can arrange for s local senior specialist to come out and install this much needed safety net for your loved one. It allows you to get assistance quickly if your loved one has fallen or in case of other emergencies.
