The Caregiver - Dealing with Parkinson's-related issues
Over the years as the disease progresses, caregivers stand witness to the destruction of their loved ones body and mind as the symptoms worsened. Once a loving gaze now replaced by often-blank expression resulting from rigid facial muscles. A good day now is a shuffling gait but often your lives "frozen" in place much like their inability to ambulate. The silence interrupted by the occasional welcomed hushed voice. Parkinson's-related issues are vast. A struggle managing the constipation exacerbated by the sleep disturbances also complicate a caregivers ability to manage their loved ones condition on their own.
Call me and let us talk about how I have been able to assist other caregivers in the same situation.

The Elderly Easter Egg-xpert has been found....SEARCH NO MORE !
/Many of our clients have found that having us arrange in-home care and a emergency alert pendent can be enough. These adult children have been able to ensure that their elderly parents are able to stay in their own home for years with a small amount of Concierge Care Management.
Some of our clients were grateful to have our expert advice available at the touch of a button especially when our current care plan was working superbly until the loss of one parent. The surviving parent is now truly alone. The surviving spouse may have been relying on the other for years to manage their medications, doctor appointments, paying bills, and many other activities of our daily lives. This is often a time when families have stepped up their use of our Concierge Case Management team.
Still others find that even with in-home care there are few opportunities to socialize with other seniors. Meals can become such a chore for them when there isn't around the clock in-home care that they just don't bother. Weight loss can be a social issue as much as a medical one. Adult children of elderly parents can find themselves searching for the way to convince their single elderly parent who maybe stubbornly clinging to the familiarity of home. This is often the times the argument their children face when bringing up a possible change. Clinging to the familiar should never be the deciding factor in if it is time to Make a Move and can often be a sad and lonely sight.

The tradition is more than green beer and four leaf clovers. "St. Patrick's Day was originally a Roman Catholic feast day for Ireland’s patron saint, celebrated only in Ireland since before the 1600s. But it evolved into a secular holiday in the 1700s, when Irish immigrants in the US held some of the first St. Patrick’s Day parades. More than a show of patriotism, the parades were an opportunity for Irish immigrants to make a political statement about their discontent with their low social status in America," claimed Husna Haq a Correspondent for the Christian Science Monitor.

In like a Lion...out like a Lamb
/“In like a lion, out like a lamb” has always seemed a straightforward enough proverb. It derives from the thought that when March starts, it’s still winter, but by the end of the month spring has begun. There are many climates, by the end of the month, that haven't quite reached the lamb stage but none the less the proverb has stock with us.
With the changes in the weather be sure to be discuss with your medical provider any ongoing struggles that maybe persisting from a winter cold or the ever blooming allergy season. Don't let what could have been a trip to the MD and pharmacy turn into a 3 day hospital stay from worsening infection, fall, or pneumonia.
Be sure to call Alee Solutions if there is a family or clients that could use our case management services in their home or ALF. (502)242-7691

Problems in Prioritizing Proximity
/
Prioritizing Proximity when looking for an assisted living community for your loved one is a problematic concern says Senior Living Experts in Louisville KY.
We have partnered with family after family who begin their search for Assisted Living based around the proximity to communities that are nearest to their adult children. Alee Solutions cautions against overemphasizing the value of proximity over best fit for the Senior.
